Aleatory Exhibition.

06.03.18 - 10.03.18
THE ISLAND BRISTOL.

prior to the exhibition date we were all allocated to take responsibility for different parts of the exhibition, i was part of the social media team. naturally, i took a variations of photos on the night to capture the works of the students and the guests that arrived. my final outcome for aleatory included a visual elements as well as audio, however during the exhibit the audio was unable to work thus the viewers only had a chance to see the visuals. the audio in the piece involved speech from the jean luc godard's film les femme est la femme. I think the audio complemented my visuals and helped to add more momentum to the piece. but, i think the audio not working added to the problem solving aspect of it. i believe my work was a very visually communicative pice, meaning i work very visually so my projects often reflect that and the theme i try to portray. Thus using the imagery and visuals i used the viewer were instantly able to identify the theme of the project and elate it back to the project.

at the night of the exhibition, when it was open to friends and family i was quite confident with my work being viewed by other, i think it was because it felt comfortable and confident in the non- conventional style of work that i produced. the feedback i got from the night was also encouraging me when following my future projects.  i also had a discussion following my work with a few viewer and how they expressed their interpretations of my work. for example, my work was influenced by the censorship of female nudity within the media and the viewers were able to link that to issues women face in society such as breast feeding in public an d the objectification of women in the media. i was glad that my project opened up a conversation within the viewers which is something i wanted to achieve, just to allow them to recognise these issues in the media and around us.

overall, i think the exhibition worked successfully, it was my first time showcasing my work to the public and my peers. i believe it ran smoothly and i was able to capture the works of other students as well. i think this was the most important part of this project, being able to see and learn about how the others in my class absorbed and defined the project brief. each work reflected their unique personality  and i was lucky to see how my peers adapted to their environments and used their individual piece to create the final outcomes. everyone had their own interpretation of aleatory and they all defined it in their own way, it was refreshing to see a varied collection of art that derived from the same word, which i think is  the most alluring aspect about this brief.

which i think is beautiful.
